Sure, a lot of you starting now have some smarts, a good job, and are willing to work hard. All that sets you in the right direction, but over the long-term, over a multi-decade career that simply will not be enough to be truly successful. My 7 Key Success Factors for Business Networking There are two areas I want to review about networking: what makes it successful and how to actually do it! So, let’s review my seven key principles for how to do it successfully and then a five step plan of attack to execute those principles. 1. It’s an all-the-time thing. 2. Give value first. Take second. 3. Give more than you take. 4. Do it live. 5. Do what you say you’re going to do—build trust. 6. Move it forward and expand their network. 7. Build a systematic plan that allows you to execute. My 5-Step Plan to Build a Healthy Professional Network A. Set your networking goals. There are many, but let’s talk about four: • Educations and advancement of your knowledge • Camaraderie • Job hunting • Grow customers, partnerships, etc. B. Build your relationship map by doing your research. C. Identify 60 to 100 people you can connect with who can help you meet your goals. D. Prepare standard messages you can modify. E. “E” is for execute. Adjust your plan according. -------------------- ABOUT ANDREW -------------------- Andrew LaCivita is an internationally recognized executive recruiter, award-winning author, trainer, and founder and chief executive officer of milewalk and the milewalk Academy. People often tend to associate their "net worth" with their "network". Jose, however, believes that connecting with peers on a humanistic level and building relationships with people is much better for fostering a mutually supportive environment. Originally from San Pedro Sula, Honduras, Jose Gutierrez came to the United States in 2010 to pursue his degree at Bentley University. During his time as a student leader and school spirit enthusiast, Jose quickly learned that connecting with his peers on a humanistic level was key to fostering a mutually supportive environment. Jose used the lifelong relationship he established to facilitate his transition from college student to full time employee. Networking Isn't Working: Need for Genuine Relationships in Politics | Navneet Gidda | TEDxUAlberta

09:23
Our contemporary culture of networking is causing our politics to become increasingly competitive and detached. Networking has become a barrier to progress and continues to prevent people, especially youth and people of colour, from entering certain spaces. To generate a better political future, we must change the way we connect with others -- building genuine relationships instead of simply swapping business cards. Navneet Gidda is a fourth year undergraduate student at the University of Alberta who serves as the current President of the Political Science Undergraduate Association, Vice President of the University of Alberta New Democrats, and Constituency Assistant for The Honourable Rachel Notley. Over the course of her degree, Navneet has dedicated herself to opening spaces for youth to share in diverse political dialogue and generating opportunities for students to grow outside the academic realm. Paving the path for women in politics, Navneet leads a team of all female executives on her department association, was selected to represent her riding at last year’s ‘Daughters of the Vote’ conference in Ottawa, and spent this past summer as an Advocacy Intern in Washington, DC. As a leader, Navneet is committed to being a voice for marginalized communities and empowering fellow people of colour to run for political office. The Introvert's Guide To Networking

The Introvert's Guide To Networking Discover The 4 Emotions You Need To Make a Killer First Impression: http://bit.ly/2FZ27h5 Last week I went to a conference called ClamourCon I saw something that really surprised me. In fact it wasn’t a something, but a someone. This person, a self professed introvert, was one of the best networked people I know, with connections from Holly wood to the venture capital world, to personal development world. Once I found this out about him, I began to ask him how that all came about and that’s what I want to share with you today. His name by the way is Evan Carmichael, he’s a YouTuber who makes inspiring content for entrepreneurs. I’ll put a link to his channel in the description. So here’s what I saw from him. First off, redefine what constitutes a networking event. Most things with “networking” in the title are a complete waste of time. It attracts people who are looking to develop a network instead of a relationship. And it’s especially bad if you’re an introvert, since you’ll be competing with a bunch of other people hungry to share their story and what they are working on. Evan's Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/ModelingTheMasters 0:50 Redefine your networking philosophy as per Evan Carmichael 2:15 Be open to people and have confidence and believe in yourself 3:28 Know what people want which is easier for an introvert 5.07 Play matchmaker and help others in their self improvement Subscribe to Charisma On Command’s YouTube Account: http://bit.ly/COC-Subscribe Connect With Us Further: Website: http://www.charismaoncommand.com Facebook: http://facebook.com/charismaoncommand Periscope: https://www.periscope.tv/charismaon Or if you want to see my personal stuff (my regular life + me playing music): Instagram: @CharlieHoupert Periscope: @CharlieHoupert

Graph Theory Overview

04:22
For the full course see: https://goo.gl/iehZHU Follow along with the course eBook: https://goo.gl/i8sfGP In this lecture, we start to lay down some of our basic language for talking about networks that comes to us from graph theory a relatively new area of mathematics that studies the properties of graphs. Transcription: When we hear the word network all sorts of things spring to mind like social networks and the Internet in particular, but the power of network theory is really in its high degree of abstraction, so the first thing for us to do is to try and start back at the beginning by forgetting what we think we know about networks and embrace the abstract language of networks what is called graph theory. In the formal language of mathematics a network is called a graph and graph theory is the area of mathematics that studies these objects called graphs. The first theory of graphs goes back to 1736, the first textbook came about in 1958 but most of the work within this field is less than a few decades old. In its essence a graph is really very simple, it consist of just two parts what are called vertices and edges. Firstly Vertices; a vertex or node is a thing, that is to say it is an entity and we can ascribe some value to it, so a person is an example of a node as is a car, planet, farm, city or molecule. All of these things have static properties that can be quantifies, such as the color of our car, the size of our farm, or the weight of our molecule. Within network science vertices are more often called nodes so we will be typically using this term during the course. Edges can be define as a relation of some sort between two or more nodes, this connection may be tangible as in the cables between computers on a network or the roads between cities within a national transportation system or these edges may by be intangible, such as social relations of friendship. Edges may be also called links, ties or relations and we will be often using this latter term during the course. The nodes belonging to an edge are called the ends, endpoints, or end vertices of the edge. Within graph theory networks are called graphs and a graph is define as a set of edges and a set vertices. A simple graph does not contain loops or multiple edges, but a multigraph is a graph with multiple edges between nodes. So where as a simple graph of a transpiration system would just tell us if there is a connection between two cities, a multigraph would show all the different connections between the two cities. Graphs can be directed or undirected. With an undirected graph edges have no orientation, for example a diplomatic relation between two nations may be mutual and thus have no direction to the edge between the nodes. These undirected graphs have unordered pairs of nodes, that means we can just switch them round, if Jane and Paul are married, we can say Jane is married to Paul or we can say Paul is married to Jane it makes no difference and thus it is an unordered pair. The Fastest Path to Success in Network Marketing

21:35
Everyone would love to go full-time in Network Marketing, everyone would love to enjoy the financial and personal freedom that network marketing provides, but how does one do that? And what is the fastest way to success? In this week’s 20-minute show, Eric Worre, takes us behind closed doors and gives the key to success in Network Marketing. The fastest way to success is to improve the people that you’re spending time with. By that, Eric explains, hang around and associate with people who are a positive influence and can help you go where you want to go in life. To quote Jim Rohn, “You become the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” You will generally think how they think, go where they go, do what they do, your interests are gonna be similar, and your ambitions are gonna be similar. But if you are hanging around lazy, unmotivated, negative people, they will drag you down with them. So find people who are a positive influence on you and will help you grow your business. As Eric further explains, if you don’t know how to recruit very well, or you’re insecure in recruiting, the fastest way to become a good recruiter, is to find people who are great recruiters, and listen to those people. Same applies in other areas, such as, if you’re not good at doing presentations, find a way to develop relationships and friendships with people who are doing great presentations. This works in all categories of building your network marketing business. In the video Eric tells us of being a very young man and he wanted to learn and grow, so he absorbed every motivational, business building audiocassette he could get his hands on. He listened to all the greats. He even drove hours around the country, sleeping in his car, just so he could shadow people that he admired in the Network Marketing business, just to listen when they spoke. He did everything he could, not only did he listen, shadow and absorb every word, but by working on his inner mental game, he found a way to bring value to a conversation with people much more successful than him, thereby earning his way into their “group”. Eric explains that this type of transformation begins in your mind, but you also have to limit your association to negative people, or negative situations. But mostly you need to focus on expanding your association with positive influences and surround yourself with greatness, and the little negative things will slowly fade away... Some of Eric’s early mentors he never met, but they mentored him through video, audio, and books, and you can build associations just like that also. Feed your mind and surround yourself with people who have done what you aspire to do, is the fastest path to success in Network Marketing. In 2010, he created Go Pro Recruiting Mastery. An annual generic training event that has grown into the largest in Network Marketing history. Over 8,000 attended in 2015 and the next event in December 2016 has over 17,000 pre-registered. In 2013, he released the International best-selling book “Go Pro – 7 Steps to Becoming a Network Marketing Professional”, which has sold well over 1 million copies to date and has become a “must read” for anyone who is serious about building their network marketing business. In 2014, he released the documentary style film “Rise Of The Entrepreneur” which helps to dispel many of the misconceptions related to Network Marketing. In 2015, along with his wife Marina, he created a new annual event called "The Most Powerful Women In The World" which is already the world's largest generic Network Marketing event for women. To date, the Network Marketing Pro community has grown to over a million leaders from over 100 countries around the world. As the most sought after speaker in Network Marketing today, he is engaged in an effort to raise all ships and allow this profession to truly take its proper place in this world as “a better way”.
Networking With People Should Be A Give-And-Take, Win-Win Relationship

03:20
http://BillCadyOnline.com Just remember that... People do business with people that they know, like and trust. Make sure to establish a relationship with someone first before trying to pitch them another business opportunity or product. Chances are they are probably in another business that they like, so instead of trying to pitch them see what you could do to help them. Networking with individuals should be a mutually beneficial, give-and-take, win-win relationship. For more on what I do visit my blog at: http://BillCadyOnline.com ~ Bill Cady "The Freedom Fighter"

How Do You Approach Your Network to Let Them Know You're Looking without Appearing Desperate?

05:33
Grab your FREE copy of our Bestselling book - The Career Upgrade Roadmap - http://www.careerattraction.com Kevin Kermes: This is a question we get a lot, how do you approach your network to let them know that you're looking without appearing desperate? Olivia Gamber: Yeah, great question. This comes up frequently. A lot of people have neglected their network, I mean, I'm guilty of it too, but if you think about maybe you've had your head down in a job for the last 10 years and now, all of a sudden, you've got to make a change. You have a great network, a lot of our clients have been in the industry over 10 years, they've got in some cases, hundreds of really good contacts, but they don't know how to come at that when you haven't talked to somebody in years. Why would they help you? I think the biggest mistake people make is to immediately let them know that they're looking and the generic response, "Hey, I'm looking." It's just leading with the question that it just comes across really desperate, it comes across cold, and most people are not going to even know how to help you because in many cases, they don't even know what you're up to or what you're looking for. I think the biggest approach is, think about how you would treat a friend. People like to separate business and personal relationships, but I treat them pretty similar. If you haven't talked to someone, even a family member in a while, are you immediately going to just ask them for money if you need a loan? Let's just give that example. No, you're going to ask them, "How are your kids? How are you doing? Let's catch up, I haven't talked to you in a while." Eventually, you're going to start to get to what you need, but you're going to warm up the contact first right? I treat it the same with my business connections. I don't know. What do you think Kevin? How would you approach it? Kevin Kermes: Yeah, so I think you hit the nail on the head. First of all, it's a long game and it's about developing a relationship. It's not transactional, so the best thing to lead with, and this is extremely appropriate for introverts and you and I feel the same way, and that is to figure out what's important to that person that you're reconnecting with, or you're connecting with for the first time. That, number one, becomes your collateral to carry forward. If I know what you need, and I want to continue to nurture a relationship with you, what better thing for me to take out as I need other people, than to know what Olivia needs so I can come back to you and help connect you and deepen the relationship, and help build a true relationship. that hits in on the second piece which, so many times, we hear this a lot of times from clients, we hear this countless times whenever we talk about relationship or networking advice through the emails we send out. When you send out emails to more than 50,000 people, you get a lot of responses right? A lot of people will say, "Well I tried that and it didn't work." When you really boil it down, what I tried that and it didn't work comes down to is, I went to the people that I knew and I asked them, and I didn't get what it is that I needed. Number one, a study was done last year by LinkedIn where they found, it was somewhere between 75 and 85 percent of jobs were found in the third and fourth level connections. The people who are immediately around you, if your expectation is that they are going to be the individuals that lead you to your next opportunity, that's a false prophet. It's not going to happen. Olivia Gamber: Sorry, I've cut in, but this really reminded me. I just had a conversation with a woman two days ago. Director level, just got laid off, she did the exact same thing, "I already asked, I have no one else to network with," but that's exactly what she did. She asked them for what do you know about? That's not what you should be asking about. Kevin Kermes: It also dovetails in with if you're looking, particularly for people who are looking at shifting industries and they say, "Well I don't know anyone in that industry," so they make this assumption that because they don't know anybody in that industry, none of the people who they know, know people. I'll give you an example. A good friend of ours is participating in a program called BreakLine which is run for veterans, Stanford puts it on, and one of the parts of this 30 day program that he's participating in, he gets to spend some time with Andreessen Horowitz which is an enormous VC out on the West Coast. He's going to be talking to both principles. Well it turns out that the friend who was here this weekend, who incidentally I wanted to connect him with, used to work for and was the chief of staff for the mayor of DC who now is, I don't know if he's a partner, but he's working at Andreessen Horowitz, and also has these even further connections. I sent him a message this weekend and I said, "I'm going to get you hooked up with while you're out there."

In this show, I am revealing the number one secret of Million Dollar earners and leaders… Relationships. Relationships are more important than your opportunity, product, compensation plan and skills. The truth is, people care more about you caring about them than they do about the great opportunity that you have. When people sense that they can trust you and believe in you, and have a relationship with you, then they’ll be open to looking at all your different opportunities, whether it’s to be a customer or to be a distributor. Relationships are the most important thing. Relationships are two-fold in your business. First, you need to build relationships when it comes to your prospects. Be more interested in them than your opportunity. Once you build rapport with them, it becomes very easy to talk about your product or opportunity. Second, just as forming a relationship and building trust is important for prospects, it works this way with your team also. If your team members don’t feel they have a relationship with you, or feel they can trust you and follow you, then you need to work on your team building and leadership skills. The greatest networkers build relationships, not just with people in network marketing, but anyone they meet. They connect by asking questions, being interested and being interested in them as a person. And so, they collect friends everywhere they go. Good things are automatically attracted to a person who cares more about people than anything else. Jim Rohn called it enlightened self-interest. With just self-interest, there’s a loser and a winner. But with enlightened self-interest, if you help them win, then you get to win. If you help enough other people, all of your needs will be taken care of. So, focus on building trust, building belief, being interested, listening, being a friend and good things will happen in your life and in your business.
How to Build a Good Relationship With Your Professor

49:06
We’ve talked a lot about the power of networking. Networking is powerful enough to land you job opportunities, friends, respect in your field, or maybe even a letter of recommendation from your favorite professor. But wait: you’ve never even spoken to your favorite professor. You’re also late to almost every class, and you usually just spend that time looking for Koroks on your shiny new Nintendo Switch. Somebody’s not getting a recommendation (excellent gaming choices aside). In this episode, we talk a bit about how to build a good relationship with that favorite professor of yours and anyone else you might need to convince you’re worth remembering after the semester’s over. Networking - Building Personal Relationships in Business

01:17
Networking - Building Personal Relationships in Business - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. Small talk is always a challenge for almost everyone. At a business meeting, I do recommend that small talk be kept to a minimum when the meeting is actually on. You may wish to establish a personal relationship, but that takes time. So you establish your credentials first, your honor and integrity, and then you might lead into some personal things. You can ask open-ended question as long as it is not invasive. So you might say, the last time I met you Bill, you and your family were off to Italy for a vacation. Tell me about the highlights. So then he has an open window that he can respond but it is not to invasive. The idea is to have a light conversation but show that you remember the last scenarios and that your going to build gently into more questions. Many questions are inappropriate. It is a open-ended question and if you get asked a question that you really do not want to answer. Could just say, why do you ask.

Niall Ferguson on History’s Hidden Networks

01:21:49
Want to join the debate? Check out the Intelligence Squared website to hear about future live events and podcasts: http://www.intelligencesquared.com __________________________ Have historians misunderstood everything? Have they missed the single greatest idea that best explains the past? Niall Ferguson is the preeminent historian of the ideas that define our time. He has challenged how we think about money, power, civilisation and empires. Now he wants to reimagine history itself. In October 2017, Ferguson came to the Intelligence Squared stage to unveil his new book, 'The Square and The Tower'. Historians have always focused on hierarchies, he argues – on the elites that wield power. Economists have concentrated on the marketplace – on the economic forces that shape change. These twin structures are symbolised for Ferguson by Siena’s market square, and its civic tower looming above. But beneath both square and tower runs something more deeply significant: the hidden networks of relationships, ideas and influence. Networks are the key to history. The greatest innovators have been ‘superhubs’ of connections. The most powerful states, empires and companies have been those with the most densely networked structures. And the most transformative ideas – from the printing presses that launched the Reformation to the Freemasonry that inspired the American Revolution – have gone viral precisely because of the networks within which they spread. ‘When we understand these core insights of network science,’ says Ferguson, ‘the entire history of mankind looks quite different.’

Internal & External Networking

01:10
When you mention networking many people's minds immediately go to attending events, meeting strangers, and hopefully making a sale or connecting. External Networking should never be about making an immediate sale, but rather forming a mutually beneficial relationship that turns into many possible referrals. Internal Networking is equally as important but frequently misunderstood. It can take on two forms. The first is developing relationships within your company so that you are resources for each other. You don't have to be in the same department, but you do need to make an effort to reach out and know each other better, and build trust so you can share appropriate information. The other form is cross industry. This helps keep you on top of industry trends. There are many industry specific associations that will help you build those relationships. The people you meet here can act as mentors, resources and possible job opportunities.

Centralized & Scale Free Networks

05:46
For the full course see: https://goo.gl/iehZHU Follow along with the course eBook: https://goo.gl/i8sfGP In this module we looked at networks that have the highest degree distribution making their topology very heterogeneous in terms of the distribution of connectivity, these networks may have one or a few nodes with a very high degree of connectivity forming global hubs within the network and very many with a much smaller degree of connectivity Transcription excerpt: let's start by taking a few examples of these centralized systems, if we look at his network of global banking activity with nodes representing the absolute size of assets booked in the respective jurisdiction and the edges between them the exchange of financial assets, with data taken from the IMF. We can then see clearly how a very few core nodes dominate this network, there are approximately 200 countries in the world but these 19 largest jurisdictions in terms of capital together are responsible for over 90% of the assets. This type of centralized structure to a network is surprisingly reverent in our world and we could cite many other examples of it, such as social networks where a very few people may have millions of people connected to them and the vast majority very few. These highly centralized networks are more formally called scale free or power law networks, that describe a power or exponential relationship between the degree of connectivity a node has and the frequency of its occurrence. These power law networks are really define by the mathematics that is behind them so lets just take a quick look at that it. In these networks, The number of nodes with degree x is proportional to 1 over x squared So, The number of nodes with degree 2 is one fourth of all the nodes The number of nodes with degree 3 is one ninth of the nodes The number of nodes with degree 10 is proportional to one hundredth If we have a network with a thousand nodes of degree one then we would have 250 nodes with degree two, and proximally 31 with degree ten. If we notice then when we go from degree one to degree two we had a very big drop, but then going from degree two to teen the drop is a lot more gradual and this decline continues to get more gradual giving the graph what is called a long tail. The point to take away from this is that this long tail means there can be nodes with a very high degree but there will also be very many with a very low degree of connectivity giving us our centralized network. This type of power law graph was first discover within the degree distribution of websites on the internet with some websites like Google and Yahoo having very many links into them but there also being very many sites out on the web that have a very few links into them. Since then it has been discovered in many types of very different networks such as in metabolic networks where the essential molecules of ATP and ADP that provide the energy to fuel cells play a central role interacting with a very many different molecules, where as most of the molecule interaction very few others, thus making these two molecule hubs in the metabolic networks fueling the cells in our bodies. It is a great concept to ask, “What can I do for you?” or “ How can I help you?” This seems like a great concept, but actually it causes an awkward challenge if you are a busy entrepreneur, executive or sales rep and you’ve got half a dozen people at a network meeting walking up to you saying, “Hey, what can I do to help you with your business?” That’s a really sweet question. It’s very genuine, it’s very nice per se but the truth is, it’s not very helpful because they didn’t take the time to get to know what you’re up to, they didn’t look for ways where they can really serve you, they didn’t ask questions that help them identify gaps that they can actually step in and help fill. In short… they didn’t do the research. I remember a long time ago, I spent a few hours hanging out with a guy named James Altucher. He’s got a very interesting blog that he writes and a very interesting podcast. I asked him, “How did you go from struggling to making 10 million dollars on one deal? Losing it all to making $14 million on the next deal? How did you do that?” In his response he taught me a very simple technique of active networking (that’s the term I gave, that’s not what he said) He said he would go out and look for an opportunity, a person or an organization that he wanted to connect with and he would spend time researching online what’s going on in their world – articles that they would write, blogs they posted, their Instagram, their Twitter. He would just dig into their world and learn about them and educate himself of what they’re up to, what they’re focused on, what they’re talking about, projects they are working on. All the details that they are working on, and he would naturally look for gaps that existed in their plan, in their execution, in their message. He would look for things that he could find that as a consumer, or as someone who really enjoyed receiving content from them, he wished there was more of and he would take notes and say, “I wish you would cover this topic, I wish you would do it like this, I wish you came into this side, I wish you have this additions to it..”

Networking is free, most of the time. It’s full of like-minded individuals, and if you go to the right events, it’s full of people that you can work with or learn from in some way. I am convinced that NETWORKING is the single most powerful marketing tactic to accelerate and sustain success for any individual or organization! I was asked by many people why networking is such an important ingredient for success? Networking is about making connections and building enduring, mutually beneficial relationships. Networking ensure you meet the “right” people to include in your network and expand your sphere of influence. Ultimately, it’s not about who you know ... but WHO KNOWS YOU!! Ask any successful business person which single skill or habit helped them excel in their career – an overwhelming majority will respond with one simple word… Networking. NETWORKING IS CRITICAL! We are constantly bombarded with advertisements, emails, status updates, special offers, and sales pitches creating a cluttered message. Personal relationships enable you and your organization to stand out, rise above the noise and remain top of mind. Relationships are the catalyst for success.People do business with those they like and trust.Serve as a resource, help others succeed. Networking provides the most productive, most proficient and most enduring tactic to build relationships. To succeed you must continually connect with new people, cultivate emerging relationships and leverage your network. Marketing Minute 066: “Networking & The Reverse Call-to-Action” (Marketing Yourself)

01:29
In advertising, sales, and management, we often hear about the need for a “Call-To-Action,” used to get the message recipient to do something, such as click or subscribe or share or call or visit or, if you’re lucky, make a purchase. But when it comes to networking, you need to incorporate a “Reverse Call-To-Action,” particularly when you meet someone new at an event or in some other social situation. The reverse call-to-action is a call for you to take the next actionable step in building the new relationship rather than asking the person you just met. You can do this by letting the other person know that you’ll send an email, or connect on LinkedIn, or deliver a report, or whatever step seems reasonable to the situation and the type of professional relationship that’s being built. To make it work, state your intentions to the recipient, be noninvasive in your intended action, follow up, and reference the original meeting. To learn more about these critical four elements, watch this video: https://youtu.be/g7umFIFOOhc If you want to build a relationship with someone new, put the burden of building that relationship on yourself and offer far more value than you expect to get back. In relationships, it’s much better to give than to receive. **Be sure to subscribe to my channel so you don't miss any future episodes of Monday's Marketing Minute, where you’ll learn about: - Marketing Strategy and Tactics - Brand Development - Personal Branding and Professional Branding - Marketing Yourself - Marketing Leadership - and whatever relevant and related topics come our way. **Also, connect with me on any of the following: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/anthonymiyazaki Twitter: https://twitter.com/sensiblefolk Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sensiblefolk/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/AnthonyMiyazaki

Check out my new book, How to Prepare for Everything: www.howtoprepare.com! The internet is not a fuzzy cloud. The internet is a wire, actually buried in the ground. Computers connected directly to the internet are called "Servers," while the computers you and I use are "clients," because they are not connected directly to the internet, but through an Internet Service Provider. Routers shuttle packets of information across the internet, and transmit e-mail, pictures, and web pages.

Business Networking Tips for Small Business and Professional Networking Events

Buy Business Networking For Dummies on Amazon Amazon.co.uk: http://goo.gl/yzhn6a (Affiliate link) Amazon.com: http://goo.gl/NBWLtq (Affiliate link) Business Networking Tips for Small Business and Professional Networking Events by Jill Simpson from DEVA Training in Kilmarnock, Scotland. Jill helps clients to develop the skills and confidence necessary to change and grow. Attending small business and professional networking events can be a very effective way to grow your business, whether to gain clients, suppliers or collaborators. Naturally attending a networking event for the first time can be a daunting challenge, especially if you are not a natural extrovert. However if you learn and act on these five networking tips your networking will not only be more effective but also much more enjoyable. Remember you are there for a reason. Don't waste the opportunity by hiding or sticking to the one person you already know, the more people you meet the greater your chance of establishing new and useful business relationships. The advantage that these near-social events bring is that you are meeting people face to face and that helps to build trust. Even though the atmosphere maybe relaxed do not treat the networking event as a party where you can let your hair down, it is still a professional event. If you can check out the guest list beforehand do so and ask the organiser to introduce you to the people you really want to meet. One mistake that networking newbies make is they think this is an opportunity to sell. That might be your ultimate goal but what you are seeking to do is make new contacts and get to know more about them. The more you understand their needs the better placed you are to solve the problems in their business. Show a genuine interest in the people you meet and listen to them, you will win their appreciation and trust. What’s more, you will start to identify opportunities for building new business relationships. Only collect business cards of people you know you would like to talk to again; be sure and add them to your database. Make sure you follow-up after the event. Keep it simple; invite someone for coffee, send information that might be interesting to them, recommend them if that seems appropriate. Good relationships take time and effort, and that’s also true of business relationships. Finally listen, be courteous, be honest and smile. If you enjoy your networking it shows and the people you meet are more likely to enjoy your company, to like you and develop a profitable relationship with you. Tiffany's Epiphanies: Networking and Friendworking Are Two Different Things

A big mistake women make when it comes to networking is believing they need to develop a deep relationship with each and every person they reach out to. Yes, strong personal connections can help you advance your career, but you need to think of those people as your advocates. Networking is just as important, but doesn't require as much relationship-building. Here's what you need to do.

Speed vs Bandwidth Explained - Arvig

When we discuss Internet plans, there are two terms often used interchangeably: bandwidth and speed. However, these terms are not synonymous. Bandwidth is the capacity of the network, and the speed refers to the transfer rate of the data. But, what does that really mean?

222 Networking Is About Relationships

10:10
Networking is one of the most powerful ways anyone can grow a business quickly.  However, it is vital to focus on building relationships and not simply pitch your offerings. When utilized properly, networking is by far one of the fastest and lowest barriers to entry methods to grow a business.  In every city, there are countless networking groups filled with people who are promoting their business, referring others, and simply making introductions to people who could possibly do business with each other. The greater purpose behind networking with others is to build relationships that can ultimately lead to sales.  One of the pitfalls of networking groups is the number of people who look at everyone they meet as a meal ticket vs a relationship.  Networking is about building relationships to ultimately be introduced to people who can utilize the products and services you offer. When someone focuses on trying to quickly sell a room, without building relationships, they can quickly find themselves out of business. Why? People love to buy, but hate being sold to! Typically in most well-established networking groups, people will have previously built a relationship with someone in every profession that is represented.  As people buy from those who they know like and trust, it is important to establish these key elements in a relationship prior to initiating a sale. Does this mean going for the sale first doesn't work?  No, it can work, but typically it results in losing more sales than gained. So how can you quickly build relationships to ultimately generate sales? The short answer is, give value then ask for the sale. People will buy a product or service when they see inherent value demonstrated.  However, it must go beyond the product, but also value must be given to the person.  For example, if someone demonstrated a way for a potential client to save money, or increase revenue, they will be more likely to utilize the services of an individual. When you begin focusing on building relationships, not only are you more likely to generate a sale, you are also more likely to be introduced to your prospects sphere of influence. Ultimately the goal of every person leveraging networking to generate business should be to obtain introductions to someone's sphere of influence.  If you are not doing this currently, then it must become your number one priority until achieved.  http://www.byroningraham.com/podcast/222-networking-is-about-relationships

How To Start Networking With Others On Mynetworkingpro To Build Relationships

How To Start Networking With Others On Mynetworkingpro To Build Relationships. First off,I would like to apologize,I was having some technical issues when I first started recording this video. I wanted to keep my screen shot on the mynetworkingpro home page, but was unable to due to load time, and some error with Google talk plugin. Yes,as you can see I use Google talk to record the audio from the call for the video, this allows me to record video and audio at the same time. Ok,on with the information about the call. Bob Judd started the call off, talking about some of the issues we all have seen with mynetworkingpro over the last few days. I believe they are just trying to make things better for us all,and make mynetworkingpro the best it can be. Bob and Terry talk about connecting and networking with other people to build relationships. This is a great way to share ideas so we can all help each other succeed. Don't just pitch your business opportunity to people,we all get pitched everyday by everyone, don't you think it would be nice just to talk to someone about what their doing in their business without worrying about getting pitched. If you build the relationship first, your opportunity will come up in the natural process as you build on that relationship. This will give you a chance to learn from other people who have been in this business for many more years than you. Most likely they have been where you are and can help keep from making the same mistakes that they may have made in their early days. I know most people just post their links and expect people to become interested in what they are offering. I know since I have started connecting with people my results have been fantastic, not to mention the friendships I have made as a result of building a relationship with them to start with. Networking Tips: Make Friends & Have Fun: Sue Clement- Success Coaching

01:52
Masters at networking don't network -- they make friends. Building the bonds of a relationship is where the real gold is. Growing a network should be enjoyable. Look to connect with people you enjoy and feel confident to refer. Embrace the Concept of Having Many Acquaintances The foundation for building a strong network is having many acquaintances. Because our friends tend to know and do, what we know and do, they offer minimal new contacts. By having a good proportion of acquaintances, you'll create a larger and more powerful network. Super-connectors Seek to make connections with "super-connectors" -- people who are well known and involved in several networks. Your relationship will foster many opportunities. Be Patient Yes, networking is a solid marketing strategy, but it takes time to build relationships. Consistency is key to being remembered and over time, networking will yield great results and more business.

The first thing you should do in your quest to do business networking is to print business cards so that you can give them out whenever you are doing business networking. You don't just have to give out your business cards at networking events. Always have a few business cards with you so that whenever any conversation gets into business, you have a business card to hand to people. Remember, whatever you are doing, you are always doing business networking. Whenever the conversation steers towards business, be ready to segue into a plug for your business. But make sure to always take interest in whatever the other person with whom you are talking is working on. In fact, asking others about their business is how to do business networking correctly. The best way to segue into talking about your business is to ask the other person about their work, business or projects. Inevitably, they will ask for the same about you. Here is how to do business networking correctly so that it is effective to help you start and build business relationships. When you first meet people, show interest in the work of others, always offer to help the other person with whatever they are working on. Follow up the next day after taking the person's contact information. And don't forget, meeting people face to face is a very powerful way to start a business relationship. Additionally, there is quite a bit of business networking you can do online. Use Twitter and email to keep in touch with people and continue to maintain and build your business relationships.
